new york!
jim and i had so much fun traveling to westchester PA to photograph naomi and matt’s wedding! (sneak peek to come) considering PA is so close to manhattan we opted to visit our friends hilaree and adrian that live in astoria for a few days. we had an absolute blast and are so grateful that we got to spend time with friends!
i’m in love with how big the creative box is in ny. anything goes and to be called crazy or weird means you MUST be, because everyone marches to the beat of their own drum
i like this, i like that there is more self expression through art and fashion in big cities! i rocked a higher rhino poof (what i like to call my hair poof on the top of my head) than usual. yeah that was my contribution to the creativity
.
i love that most people in ny live there and sacrifice to do so. people room with people they would rather not room with in order to afford living close to or in manhattan. you walk in the snow and rain because you have to and accept that that’s just what you do. hil and i walked a ways in the pouring rain to visit a cute boutique with original art work by locals. it was fun. a part of the experience.
hilaree showed me all the great places to shop, which really meant we spent most of our time in h & m. i’m waiting for the day for ft worth to get an h & m! we visited the jonathan adler retail store and heeellloooo fabulous! i wish i lived in that store. we also got to go to the yankee game and had amazing seats. that was a really fun experience! it’s neat to see the die hard support the fans have for their team.
here are a few pics i managed to take while there. i have a bad habit of leaving my camera at home while vacationing becuase, well, i’m on vacation and it’s heavy!
jim and i striking a pose before hoppin’ on the train to time square
the movement in these images reflects to me how the city feels. it’s never still, people and cars always moving…
i have no idea why people are sitting in lawn chairs in time square but i think i was more intrigued at what they were doing while they were intrigued watching the happenings in the city

we had a little date night at the cutest italian restaurant that had beautiful large paper lanterns in their outdoor seating area.
we went on to a place called angel share where you can only have 4 people in your party- max. adrian’s friend showed us where the place was because apparently there are lots of “secret” bars that you have to know someone who knows where it is, or you have to know a secret password in order to get in. kinda cool! i guess with a plethera of bars and restaurants to visit, this is a trendy way to attract people.

this is a gorgeous mural painted on the ceiling above the bar…
i’ve been to ny on a few occasions but the more i visit the more i love it! i’ve decided i would really like to do more work there, so if you know of anyone, anyone at all that could use a photographer for whatever reason. have them contact me, i might be able to work somethin’ out for them
.

a few recent faves!
hello friends! i just wanted to drop a few recent favorites on the blog for you to see. i can’t tell you how happy my heart is shooting family and children portraits. children portraiture is so vastly different from wedding photography that shooting both keeps things fresh. and definitely keeps me on my toes!
what i would call “natural” family moments
i like to fast forward 20 years and think of how special these family images will be. priceless!

these are BEAUTIFUL my friend! wonderful work as always.
Great family photos! They’ve got to be thrilled!
hey girls! thank you!
Tracy- yes! it seems like everytime i go to a location something changes
jenna- i agree!
naomi- flea markets my dear. i love flea markets!
you have SERIOUSLY fabulous taste in accent chairs my dear! you MUST tell me where you find these! i have 3 months to buy one
haha!
I love family shots that involve the parents having a moment while the children interact with the camera. The chair is fabulous!
Great work, I always love how you “get” your clients.
Did you notice they torn down some of those walls on 7th? So sad, RIP cool walls.

aw thanks Becka!
You’re lovely! (so is the splatterpaint)
yes he is, i taught him everything he knows (ha!) and for the record i’m wearing a white tubetop
just putting that out there…
Wow – Jim is pretty good!!
