our harper grace is here!

many of you know that we just welcomed our baby girl, harper grace into the world just five weeks ago! she’s a doll baby and we just can’t get enough of her sweet cheeks . i’ve just received her birth announcements in the mail and once i’m sure most have received them, i’ll post the design here!

it is sooo fun getting to photograph my own baby girl. i was super nervous to photograph her official newborn session because i wasn’t sure how she would do, errrr…maybe more how well i would do! let me tell you, i have a whole new respect and care for my mom clients especially those with a new baby, i had no idea how much effort it takes just to get out of the door with a newborn! shew! of course she did wonderfully and slept the whole way through. however, being mommy and photographer i tuckered out real quick but i love what i was able to capture!

i dreamed of this photo above. when i was younger i vividly remember taking a photo with my mom, grandma, and great grandma and i’ve always hoped of having the same photo for myself…4 generations!

this has been my 3rd time to photograph sweet naaman…the first was for the ballentine maternity session. so fun to watch him grow!

i can’t express enough how much i love when couples continue to get their portraits taken long after the wedding events are over…the edwards did just that, and had me photograph them for their “anniversary” shoot!

first we started in their beautiful condo in downtown fort worth…

i have a soft place in my heart for this sweet family…i’m sure i say this every year but they were literally one of my very first clients. i’m so honored to get to share in their family portraits each year! love you e. family!

let me just tell you…sometimes you have to improvise with an iphone while taking photos of little ones .

before i jump in here trying to ignore the fact that it’s been f-o-r-e-v-e-r since i updated the blog, let me just say i’m sorry and there is lots and lots to share. from even before christmas!! i know it’s spring you say, but well what’s a girl to do? i still have our own personal snow pictures to share here on the blog. so maybe i’ll wait until july to share those in hopes that it might remind us of just how cold it was and how long it’s been cold .

i love the idea of shooting “mr. & mrs.” sessions…i think they’re quite fitting if you’ve been married for a little bit and haven’t had your photos updated in a while. colleen and aaron were a blast to work with and their dog is so stinkin’ cute! and if you can’t tell these were taken in the fall. the light is just so sweet in the fall isn’t it?

i’ve officially decided that if elly’s dad kris is ever in need of work and perhaps wouldn’t mind a paycut then i would for sure pay him to come make all my babies happy for their portraits. he had elly cracking up, it was fun to watch.

i have been so super excited to share this family session with you all! i first met nick and tessa a few months back when jim and i had the opportunity to go to dinner with them. they are a sweet, fun couple, who pastor the Rooted church in fort worth. they told me their story of their adopted daughter olive, who is by the way unbelievably adorable. they spoke of her adoption in a way i have never heard before. they felt called by God to adopt a child to directly live out the gospel in their own lives. how cool is that!!?? what a story of redemption they have through little olive. i knew right away that i had to document this sweet family. i think the outcome is just magical, and not at all because of my efforts. thank you O family for allowing me to be your photographer!

i got to see olive on friday night at jimmy’s birthday bash. and do you know the first thing she said to me? she said…”corn field?” “heather”. melt my heart.

i puffy heart these two images big time.

(above) this was the last shot of the session, and i feel that this moment is simply perfection. they got this in a 30×40 canvas to go over their mantel and i cannot wait to see it!!!!

(above) if this were my child, i would want this BIG in my house i love how unexpected it is.

if life gives you lemons…
